Royal Palm Park Pier
August 23rd 2023 12:42 AM. At this current time there appears to be no sign of them rebuilding the Pier at this location any time in the next 6 months.
The fishing pier, located at 300 Royal Palm Park Rd, was destroyed by Hurricane Ian’s aftermath on September 28, 2022, and will have to be rebuilt.
Saltwater fishing license is required to fish here.
No public bathrooms or vending machines, no running water.
Does have a Kayak launch area but it does have some rocks. Also Alligators have been seen around this pier. No parking fees however the park closes at dusk. Law enforcement might ask you to leave after dusk.
Fish found here include: Hard head catfish, Stingray, Mojarra, Mayan Cichlid, Bull Shark, Blacktip, Nurse Shark, Sawfish, Snook, Redfish Mullet Florida Gar and Long Nose Gar.
Rare: Spotted Sea trout, Tarpon, Ladyfish, Jack Carvel, Black Drum, Sheepshead.
Recommended Bait: Live Shrimp, Frozen Shrimp. Use a catfish, Mojarra or Mayan Cichlid for Shark Bait. Cut a 3 inch piece and use a 5/0 or 7/0 circle hook and a wire leader.
Frozen dead fish will likely fall off when casting or a crab will take it. Frozen dead fish gets mushy when it thaws out. But good crab bait..
Blue crabs can be found here as well.
(The Sawfish is Endangered fish it’s illegal to keep or remove from the water)
Rate this this about a 5/10 reason for the pier is small and also short, people go out there to use drugs.
